Boris Dekov

Boris Dekov is a Bulgarian photographer, cinematographer and creative director, and co-founder of High Noir Studio, a full-service photo and video production company based in Sofia.

With a background in graphic design and a lifelong fascination with cinema and visual culture, Boris developed his creative language at the intersection of photography, film and design. He began working professionally as a photographer in 2016 and has since built a diverse body of work spanning commercial photography, portraiture, fashion, advertising, music videos, events and cinematography.

As part of High Noir Studio, Boris has worked on hundreds of productions for leading brands, public figures, artists and cultural projects in Bulgaria and across Europe. His work combines a strong sense of composition and visual identity inherited from his design background with a cinematic approach to light, movement and storytelling.

His cinematography credits include the award-winning short film FriDgid (2021), directed by Devina Vassileva and presented as part of the Bulgarian feature film festival Golden Rose. His photography has appeared across fashion and editorial platforms and has been used by major European cultural institutions, including the Vienna State Opera and the Bavarian State Opera.

Alongside his work at High Noir, Boris has expanded his creative practice into branding and advertising as co-founder and Creative Director of Social Book, where he has led the visual development of campaigns and content for a broad portfolio of commercial clients.

His work in fashion has also received industry recognition, including a nomination for Art Fashion Photographer of the Year 2025 at the Code Fashion Awards 2026.

Over nearly a decade behind the camera, Boris has developed a multidisciplinary approach that moves naturally between photography, cinematography and creative direction. Whether working on a large-scale commercial production or an intimate portrait, his focus remains the same: creating images with a distinct atmosphere, strong visual identity and a cinematic sense of storytelling.
